A lot of vehicles from the 80s are now being regarded as modern classics and the Mk3 and Mk4 Ford Escorts are certainly rising up that list nowadays. As the majority of these cars are now over 30 years old, the interiors are starting to carry considerable amounts of wear and tear. Many owners are wanting to restore their Escorts back to some semblance of "factory freshness" but the majority of the original fabrics have been out of production for quite a while now.
So when we revealed that we could supply the original "90 Spec" material used on the seat centre panels of the later models, a number of owners jumped at that opportunity!
This Cabriolet has had the front and rear centres retrimmed in the new Zolda fabric, and the "Recaro" logo in the front seats has been embroidered using a deep red thread to compliment the dark red paintwork. The outer sections have been retrimmed in Crest Vele Black leather, which is a beautiful and supple hide, and finished off with deep red topstitching. This cabin was inspired by the "Tennis" half-leather interior that a number of these cars had from the factory, although this owner decided that he wanted black leather instead of a dark grey hide. The end result is rather show-stopping, yet could still be an OEM interior.
