We head into slightly higher-end markets here with this 1984 Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole Cabriolet. This is apparently a reasonably rare beast, being both a drop top and right hand drive, but my only real concern was the VERY tired and poorly recoloured interior.
The owner felt that magnolia leather (recoloured in a pretty shocking fashion!) and red carpets was a bit 80s, even for a sports car from the decade, so he opted for brand new bespoke black carpets throughout, with black binding and black stitching. 23 separate pieces of carpet were made and fitted before any of the new leatherwork went in.
For the full leather interior, a beautiful black Italian leather was employed and this was finished with a black topstitch throughout. Being the Cabriolet model, it has some pretty complex rear quarter panels to house the main hinges for the roof so this was actually a more involved job than a hardtop Mondial would be. Black everything may possibly be seen as a drab choice, but the end result is actually a subtle and classy looking cockpit. The tired, worn and very stiff factory leather interior is gone, replaced with supple 21st century cowhide. Teamed with the new black carpets, it's a beautiful place to be now.
A staggering number of hours went into this Ferrari, along with a suitably large amount of materials, and the end result is one to be proud of. It should be for sale via Andrew Hardy Classics Ltd in February 2022 - https://www.hardyclassics.co.uk/classic-cars-for-sale-1
