When I originally retrimmed my Z4 Roadster, the plan was always to find a suitable pair of M Sport seats at some point - they just look and feel nicer than the standard SE chairs. So, when a pair of manually adjusted and heated M Sports popped up in some disrepair, I jumped on them and then mulled over what to do with them.

My initial thought was to redo everything in a bright red leather but, when I did a bit of sample work, I just wasn't sold on the colour. So I decided to keep the original darker red theme going, but make a change or two that would personalise the trim and make it stand out.

So the same Andrew Muirhead Ruby leather has been used here again, but with the addition of a perforated black leather detail through the centre of the seats. This even carries through on the panel that connects the extending squab to the seat base! The detail seams have been picked up with some silver grey topstitching and the rear shells of the seats, usually covered in material, have now been trimmed in black leather. So these are genuinely full leather M Sport seats.

Fitting them, and upgrading the manually adjusted subframes to electric memory ones, was very straightforward as BMW (and Lear, who manufactured the seats) kindly made all the framework and fittings completely interchangeable and you end up with a pretty eye-catching pair of full leather, heated, memory and electrically adjustable M Sport seats. And, honestly, they're a lovely place to sit....
