The Z32 300ZX is both an icon and an underdog at the same time. One area in which the car was certainly lacking was the interior, especially the early models; a sea of grey tweed. Very drab indeed and not in keeping with such a striking car at all.

The owner of this example wanted something that would be both eye-catching and subtle. Impressive, without being over the top. So we settled on trimming everything in Crest Shelly Black leather and finishing with a bright red topstitch. The bolsters have all been treated to some custom insert panels and, of course, there's the diamond quilting (all designed and sewn without computer assistance, as ever) and "Fairlady Z" embroidery.

The lower panels are all trimmed in the same leather and finished with a red topstitch where necessary, and the steering wheel and handbrake handle both sport a matching red hand-sewn Bentley stitch.

Less is actually more in this cabin now; the seats do the lion's share of the talking, with the rest of the cabin quietly adding to the overall presence. Eye-catching yet subtle? Job done!
